Spring Savings are in the Air at eFashionHouse.com, Plus Site Welcomes Melie Bianco, Murval and Elaine Turner

eFashionHouse.com ushers in spring with new arrivals, savings up to 50% and adds three new handbag designers - Melie Bianco, Murval and Elaine Turner.

Sky Valley, CA (PRWEB) March 26, 2008 -- After months of winter fashion accessories, spring is finally on its way and eFashionHouse.com celebrates with savings of 25-70% on the latest trends in designer handbags. Committed to offering shoppers the best online prices for purses, eFashionHouse.com, named Best of the Web by People StyleWatch for below retail priced designer handbags and recognized by About.com as the top of three online retailers of off-priced Chanel, just added hundreds of new designer handbags from Marc Jacobs, Prada, Chanel, Gucci, Anya Hindmarch, Isabelle Fiore, Coach, Tano and many more top designers, just in time for spring. The site also added three new designer fashion brands - Melie Bianco, Murval and Elaine Turner - to its huge selection of designer handbags for even more savings.

"We are excited to add Melie Bianco, Murval and Elaine Turner handbags because the handbag demand has changed from including not only the big designer names to now welcoming other chic designers with more affordable prices," said Anna Miller, eFashionHouse Owner. "Regardless of the Economy, women still want to buy themselves a new purse, and making affordable prices available online is the purpose of eFashionHouse where you do not have to spend a fortune to carry a new quality designer handbag."

With all purses priced under $100, both Melie Bianco and Murval are known for their trendy styles and amazing prices. A favorite among fashion editors, Melie Bianco has been featured in an array of magazines, like Marie Claire, People, Cosmopolitan and Self, because it is "chic and affordable" line (prices range from $30-$75) features funky and wearable styles perfect for the trendy fashionista. Another brand that is known for offering the look of couture without the high price, French company MURVAL was created by two sisters, Muriel and Valerie, who recognized the need for fashionable accessories at accessible prices. With its bags costing less than $50, MURVAL comes out with two collections a year and despite the low price points scores high among the fashion crowd.

Though not in the under $100 category, Dallas-based fashion designer Elaine Turner is still considered a bargain since her line features the finest embossed exotic leathers and signature painted grass cloth bags. Elaine Turner quickly rose to the ranks of the fashion It Bag and the brands popularity continues to grow because of its distinct and creative approach to classic looks in handbags and accessories.

Shoppers who crave the more luxurious designer handbag names can still look forward to savings and shop for the latest trends because eFashionHouse.com has it all. Some of the featured handbag styles available at a discount are:

Bagged Down

Samantha Cabrera

It all started about a decade ago. Reflecting, it seems not that long ago, but in reality it’s been awhile. The creation and marketing of the elusive “It” bag. Or bags, plural, as we now know them. While at one moment in time it was refined to simply one stellar bag per season (the black nylon Sam bag that put Kate Spade on the map, or the Chloe Paddington in every waking color in which it was produced), it has now grown to encompass everything in its path, with no one piece stealing the scene. There are now “It “bags for certain demographics. Women on Wall Street are known to tote the YSL Muse in chocolate or black, suburban mothers carry their monogrammed Coach tote bags with gusto, and your favorite tabloid fixture has a bevy of bags at her disposal (most likely gratis, which is the extra disgusting part). She totes everything from Rebecca Minkoff to Jimmy Choo, and hits on Hayden Harnett and Hermes in between.

It seems we’re all a little bogged down with bags these days. Trying to choose one mirrors Sophie’s Choice, creating millions of handbag “addicts” in the process. One can hope that the term “addicts” is used loosely, but take a simple look around and you’ll see the term is pretty concrete when it comes to describing women and their bags. What’s worse is thanks to the ever-rising costs of handbags in general (not to mention your premier designer bags), women are taking a bigger and bigger hit. Rather than not keeping up with the trends, few can keep up with the costs, maxing out credit cards, accumulating debt, and feeding into the age of consumption. Because it isn’t that a woman needs another bag, it’s that she wants one. The power of celebrity (for better or worse) has created a society of fashionistas. Everyone wants the latest everything from the girl who makes your sandwich at Subway to your mother in-law. While they may not all be after the latest Louis Vuitton limited edition, they are, in their own way, seeking out the next bag on their own agenda. Retail giants like Banana Republic and Club Monaco are now putting together wonder teams of accessories designers, and using luxe leathers and hardware not typically found in their tier of price points. Marketing goes a long way in this day, and it isn’t always the standard see-a-bag-in-Bazaar marketing either. It’s a little more discrete, and ironically enough, right in our faces. She may be a Balenciaga girl at heart, but the minute she sees Rihanna toting that gorgeous Stella McCartney patent number, something goes off in her brain.

Whether this is innate in all women, or only a bizarre, select few is the question. As bag mania spreads well into Middle America, overseas, and beyond, the industry is taking notice and continues to produce bags in record numbers. Every season there’s a push for a new bag, or bags, in most cases. While the It bag has had its time in the limelight, there are now a group of bags that reign each season, driving most women to want them all. There’s a satchel, a clutch, and a hobo for every season (except this one, as after years of the boho attitude, unstructured bags are out out out!), along with colors. Violet, cobalt, and mustard are all winners this season, and while black and chocolate are colors a lot of women already have, don’t be surprised if they don’t pick up another. The craze continues, as houses that normally don’t rely on bags (Dolce & Gabbana and Valentino to name a few), now churn out design after design, seemingly hoping they eventually strike gold with a hit.

But what makes a bag a hit? An “It” bag, if you will? Is it design? Function? Mass appeal? Or is it the perfect concoction of PR genius, landing the right (or wrong) bag on the right girl? The public seems a little more obsessed (though it is slowly coming to a halt, and we’re glad) with whom is wearing the bag, as opposed to what bag they are carrying. A Marc by Marc Jacobs turn lock satchel (a sumptuous bag, but not groundbreaking by any means) may not pan out as a craze should we see it on Kim Kardashian. Perhaps it’s because the association with a celebrity-hanger-on who went on to a career in “film” is less than appealing. But let Katie Holmes (or her other half: Posh Spice) get a hold of it, and you can be sure the Bleeker Street location’s phone will ring with inquiries for at least a week. No coincidence that the bag is inexpensive by designer handbag standards? Maybe. But even a starlet-gone-tabloid-staple, or former Must-See-TV gal can send women into Neiman’s thanks to a $1K+ handbag. Price, we’ve come to realize, is the afterthought when it comes to the truly obsessed.

Chanel handbags in particular have seen massive price increases in the past two years alone, pushing women to “stock up” on classics while the prices are what they are. But these aren’t underwear. They are bags toppling two grand in most cases, sometimes more as we’ve seen with the darling (insanely priced) croc embossed satin brights Lagerfeld churned out for fall.

The over-saturation of handbags has drowned women in most major cities, but they continue to fight the waves, and creep upon another prospect. After all, as with most obsessions, isn’t the vast part of the thrill the hunt? The task of tracking down style numbers, country codes, and reputable sales associates, all in hopes of having a precious FedEx box delivered to your front door. To some this sounds tedious and bizarre (borderline OCD, as well). Yet to many women it’s a seasonal routine, as regular as having the oil changed.

This “hunt” has also changed in the past decade. At one point, it was Balenciaga NY or Barney’s to land the infamous motorcycle collection. Now, many retailers, including all high end department stores, some specialty stores, and even online consignment shops carry the bag that we all loved on MK&A.

Between all of the above, is our bag craving beginning to subside? When you can waltz into any shop and drop that much on a bag, is your money perhaps best spent elsewhere? Maybe not, but at the very least you don’t want to carry the exact same bag as every other gal on the block. Or do you? And with celebrity paranoia screeching its brakes, will the bag craze begin to die down? Hopefully. After all, if we never see it, can we even want it?

Chanel "naked" purse

by Ellen Warren, Chicago Tribune

How many of us would invite strangers off the street to take a tour of our closets?

Would you follow that up with a gander at the contents of the medicine cabinet? Then, perhaps pull open the dresser drawers for a close inspection of what lurks in the bottom of the underwear drawer. Not likely. Well, think of a woman’s purse as a portable closet. A closet blessedly and firmly shut to all prying eyes. Which is why the popularity of the see-through handbag this season is so very peculiar. From Target to Dolce & Gabbana, the transparent purse is a big seller.

The Chanel “naked bag” shown here was created by one of the chicest designers on the planet, Karl Lagerfeld. He made it in reaction to the airline regulations requiring travelers to put their cosmetics in clear plastic bags. Surely it was just a fashion-y joke, right?

I buy my Baggies in bulk for a few bucks at Jewel but this clear plastic bag, trimmed in white patent calfskin and embellished with the Chanel interlocking Cs, costs $950. The larger model goes for $1250. Setting aside the cost, what would possess anyone to parade their messy ways for all to see?

Even the neatniks among us, after all, carries the embarrassing drugs (Rx only, of course), the occasional used Kleenex and products sufficiently personal that they that still command the euphemism “feminine hygiene.” Why show all that off to passersby, not to mention co-workers and potential boyfriends?

A Chanel rep reveals that among the celebrities who own this purse is a woman so cutting edge that she that she is designated a fashion “muse”—actress Chloe Sevigny. (ed: put two dots over e in chloe) Only a pristine lifestyle admits a purse of this stunning transparency. Is it possible that there are no lint-covered Lifesavers, revealing to-do lists or female necessities jumbled in Ms. Sevigny’s handbag? If so, give her an Emmy for overcoming the inner slob that affects us all. And an Oscar for tidiness.

Lanvin Expansion Plans

Fashion Inc.
by Lauren Goldstein Crowe
The new C.E.O of Lanvin, Paul Deneve, has finally spelled out his plans for expanding the brand. Lanvin, designed by the charming Alber Elbaz, is a favorite of fashion editors but the product is very expensive and very hard to find.

Early last summer, I was told by an investor that the company's owners, the Korean Shaw Lan Wang, and her son, Sing-Ming Chu, had been looking for backing, which was hard to come by as rights to sell in lucrative Asian market had been signed away to a license partner long ago.

They found an alternative -- last August they sold the rights to produce Lanvin fragrance and cosmetics to Inter Parfums for 22 million Euros. The article in today's WWD makes no mention of a partner in Asia, but does say that global partners are part of the forthcoming growth plan.

To take two key money makers -- Asia (if it is true) and Beauty -- out of the equation, was a bold move. The company now says it will focus on opening about 12 boutiques in the next year and on improving production of the women's line (which is currently 65 percent of sales), on building the increasingly popular men's business (sales of which were up 80 percent for Spring, but from a small base), on building its new categories, bridal and the lower priced 22 Faubourg label and, perhaps most promising of all, expanding the last real money-spinner it has, accessories.

If there was ever a designer who deserves success it is the chubby and charming Elbaz whose shows can delight the toughest of critics by doing the one simple thing so many designers find so challenging -- creating clothes that make women smile.

I'm not obsessed with collecting shoes and bags

from Style Eyes

I have been thinking to myself lately, about the seemingly obsessive behaviour many exhibit when it comes to shoes and handbags. Ok we all need handbags and shoes and yes I have lots, but my collection is tiny and relatively low value in comparison to many who have thousands of pounds worth of shoes. Yes I agree that I can't help lusting after the latest Louboutin heels or Hermes Hadbag, but I would never spend this amount of money on a pair of shoes or a handbag, not unless I won the lottery. I like to buy a pair or two of reasonable quality shoes each season and would never buy cheap non leather shoes or handbags but it just isn't worth getting into debt for the latest fashion. In our consumer driven culture, fashion and particularly shoes and handbags have almost become a new currency for measuring social standing and class.Perhaps the desire most women feel for shoes and handbags is something to do with the fact that they are solid and longlasting, valuable and recognisable as an expensive fashion item. They are therefore an investment aswell as a status symbol. Perhaps it is just the ability of a lovely pair of shoes or a beautiful handbag to transform an otherwise plain outfit or the beautiful workmanship that is almost always found in an expensive pair of shoes or a handbag. For me the importance of shoes and handbags is that without a quality handbag and pair of shoes, I feel a bit of a mess. The shoes need to be comfortable otherwise, I end up hobbling about or stumbling in them- this just ruins my day and completely zaps my confidence. My handbag is almost like an extension of my arm, it never leaves my side when I am out of the house and contains some of my most important possessions without which I couldn't possibly survive.I don't really partake in the whole labels and brand thing for shoes and handbags but prefer just to get fairly well made leather shoes and handbags which are comfortable, practical, look great and will serve me for many seasons to come.

The Family Feud over the Gucci Handbags

from factory outlet handbags
The Italian fashion design house of Gucci began in Florence, Italy in 1921 by a man named Guccio Gucci. When he opened his small, family owned leather and saddle goods store, he had no idea that the Gucci handbag would grow to become one of the best known symbols for wealth and luxury.

Italian Fashion History in the Making

In its initial phase, Gucci's work was known for its quality and craftsmanship. He hired skilled craftsmen to work with him and together they build a successful leather goods company. It was in 1938 that they opened a boutique in Rome and the business kept growing. Gucci, himself, was the designer for most of their products and in 1947 he introduced the bamboo handled Gucci handbag that is has become a company icon. In addition to the Gucci handbag, the company is well known for its family arguments, disputes and differences of opinion when it comes to company operations. The family conflicts over inheritances, stock holdings, business operations and other family issues have often threatened the overall success of the familyowned business.

The Height of Success

Even with the family disputes threatening the company's success, in the 1960's the Gucci logo GG, which were Guccio Gucci's initials, was supported by many famous women, such as Grace Kelly and Jackie Kennedy, the wife of the United States President, John F. Kennedy. This support increased the popularity of the Gucci handbag and other Gucci products. The company remained at the top of the design house establishments until the late 1970's when the family quarrels again threatened the company's survival. Soon the family members divided departments of the company between them and began to work independent of one another. Through mismanagement and disastrous business practices, the company declined in popularity and respect within the fashion industry in the 1980's. It was during this time that they also became the highest produced knockoffs on the counterfeit market. This fact caused even further decline in the high fashion industry.

The Turning Point for the Gucci Handbag

In the 1980's the company again experienced turmoil, confusion and reorganization. It was this reorganizing the saved the company and elevated it back to it's earlier standings in the fashion industry. Through the work of Tom Ford, a young fashion designer, Gucci was returned to a respectable high fashion design house. Today, the Gucci handbag is still a sought after status symbol. The company might never reach the same status it held in the 1960's but it still enjoys a popular standing in the world of wealth, celebrity and high fashion.

Classic Chanel Handbags: The First Chanel Handbags

from high-fashion.be
Although Coco began with hats and clothing, designer handbags were a natural progression. A purse is an extension of a woman’s wardrobe, along with her shoes and perfume. Chanel handbags are an expansion of the Chanel fashions, with the same traditions being incorporated into the bags’ designs.

With matching fabrics, trims and fine details, the first Chanel handbags were a classic fit to the rest of the brand. When a woman in the early 1900s would dress, she could easily create a matched outfit complete with her Chanel clothes and accessories.

The Little Black Bag It is no surprise that when Chanel invented the “Little Black Dress” along with it came the “Little Black Bag.” Then, when she expanded her costume jewelry line, her handbags began to be accessorized with gold chains clasps and jeweled buttons.

Her signature bag become the black handbag with the gold chain shoulder strap, Coco herself never left the house without it. Along with her liberation of women through clothing, Coco also incorporated this mission within her handbag collection. In the 1930s, she created the first handbag that could hang on a woman’s shoulder. With the idea that freeing a woman’s hand movements would free her personality, the first shoulder bag was born. The Chanel shoulder bag had a slow beginning, but really took off in the 1950s.At this time, Chanel re-released a slimmed down, squared and quilted shoulder bag version, which became an instant status symbol for the next fifty years.

Chanel Bags Today In many ways, today’s Chanel handbags have changed very little. The timeless fashion of a Chanel bag highlights the collection of many purse enthusiasts. Aspects of the original bags that have been maintained are: The original quilted leather. The textured fabrics. The chains. The signature symbol of two CC's. With a classic and ageless appearance, the Chanel collection for fall 2006 still offers similar trends to history, from tweeds to chains, -- and always a “little black bag.” The product line is limited and only varies slightly with each new season.

Chanel Reporter handbags have been around for quite some time and remain one of the most popular styles of Chanel handbags. Out of all of the Chanel handbags that are available on the market now and have been in the past, the Reporter handbag is one of the most widely recognized, even by those that do not own a single Chanel bag. While the Reporter bag changes slightly from year to year, it has remained largely the same because it has been so successful and seems to have a very wide appeal stretching even to those that do not typically buy designer handbags.

If you aren't quite sure what Chanel Reporter handbags are or how to distinguish them from other Chanel handbags, they are commonly described as the puffy looking bags with several pockets. The look is understated by stylized at the same time. Many of the bags have an almost quilted look, although that would be quilted leather, far from anything that you would put on your bed to sleep with! Chanel Reporter handbags are generally made of leather on the exterior and then the interior is either satin or brushed leather for an all over classy look and feel. The outside of the bag is often stitched in a pattern as mentioned above and has two to four pockets on it. Overall the bag has sort of a square look to it with 10-12 inch handles on it. Most of the Chanel Reporter handbags also have at least one zipper pocket on the inside so that you can hold valuables or even a wallet in a secured pocket.

Not only do Chanel Reporter Handbags look great and have a great reputation as being very fashionable, each one is unique. Every reporter bag is issued its own hologram authorization number and card. This is the way to ensure that the Chanel reporter bag that you have purchased or that you are looking into purchasing is not a replica. With so many knock offs out there today, this hologram is one of the best ways to ensure that you are buying Chanel and nothing less. If in doubt, you can always look at the stitching and the overall craftsmanship of the handbag to see if you are dealing with the real deal or not. Chanel is very detail oriented and because the reporter bag does have many small details you will likely be able to discredit the fakes before you even consider paying for them.

If you want to buy a real Chanel Reporter Handbag for less than retail price you will not have a hard time doing just that. At the end of each season you'll find that your Chanel dealer will mark some of the bags down to make room for some of the newer bags. You can find that retailers will mark their Chanel bags down up to 30% or more when they need to make room for more products, and you can take advantage and save a couple hundred dollars. You can also shop on the Internet and find that many people are either selling their own personal Reporter handbags or there are discount or wholesale dealers online that will offer you a handbag at a great price. Of course, when you are buying online you should proceed with care to ensure that you are getting a real Chanel Reporter handbag, but generally you'll have an easy time of it.

The Chanel Reporter Handbag really is one of the most beautiful that you can find, whether it is new or old. Not only is it very stylish, it is also very functional. Whether you are a fashion guru, a businesswoman, or a stay at home mom, the Chanel Reporter will work for you and your life quite well.

Chanel revolutionized haute couture fashion by completely replacing the traditional corset with the comfort and casual elegance of simple suits and dresses. She introduced to the world hersignature cardigan jacket in 1925, introducing a more sultry and seductive definition to “sexy.” She had numerous other major successes that changed the fashion industry including the ever popular "'Chanel suit'", an elegant creation composed of a knee-length skirt and trim, boxy jacket, traditionally made of woven wool with black sewing trim and gold buttons, worn with large costume-pearl necklaces. Elite women of high societies around the world began to flock to the now legendary Rue Cambon boutique to commission couture outfits from her. The House of Chanel became an icon of elegance and from then on, the name “Chanel” became synonymous to elegance, wealth, and elitism, as well as the ultimate sign of French high class, la coquetterie.
